- Marion Elizabeth Brown Marion Elizabeth Brown was born Nov. 15, 1924, to Leonard and Kari (Sondreal) Brown at Embden, ND. She was the youngest of four girls. She moved to California and during the war worked as a trucker and laborer in a time when men were absent from these jobs. Her experiences led her to be a very independent woman with many different skills. She moved back to North Dakota in 1976 and managed the Vets Club in Casselton. Later, she worked in Fargo and made many special friends. She retired to the home place at Embden and enjoyed many years of fun with friends. She was a cat lover and enjoyed watching all the wild life that passed by her window. Marion was married several times and was preceded in death by her husbands. She will be especially glad to be reunited with her husband, George Ward. She went to join her parents, Leonard and Kari Brown; her sisters, Jane Thompson, Ellen Noble and LaVoy Horgeshimer; and her brother-in-law, Fred Noble in heaven on Feb. 21, 2005. She leaves two brothers-in-law, Herbert Horgeshimer of Wheatland, ND and Daryl Thompson of Fairmount, ND; as well as many nieces and nephews. Mark and Linda Levos and David and Janice Horgeshimer have been honored to be her substitute family as she never had any children of her own. She also leaves many grand nieces and nephews and great- grand nieces and nephews and many close friends. May God bless her memory.
