PONSNESSBADGER, Nov 6--Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha J. Ponsness, 79, well-known former Badger resident, will be held at the Lutheran church here at 2 p.m. Monday, with the Rev. P. B. Wold officiating. Burial will be in North Lawn cemetery, Fort Dodge. Mrs. Ponsness, a resident here 50 years before moving to Waterloo, died Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Emanuel Treicle, with whom she lived for the past ten years in Waterloo. She suffered a heart attack Monday. Her husband, Lars L. Ponsness, long-time Webster county farmer, died several years ago. Mrs Ponsness was a former member of the Lutheran church here. At the time of her death she was a member of Trinity Lutheran church, Waterloo. Survivors include ten children. They are Mrs. Oliver Larson, Otho; Lewis, Humboldt; Jonas, Hillsdale, Kas.; Reinhardt, Astoria, Ore.; Leonard, Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Wayne Gates, Hollywood, Calif.; Mrs. Tanner Jacobson, Blomkest, Minn.; Mrs. Treicle, Waterloo; Mrs. Glenn Kleckner, Madisonville, Ky.; and Lloyd, Lone Tree, Idaho. Also 23 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren survive."- - - - - - The following is from Obituary information, received via email from Doug Roeber, which was in a 2 generation Report form Darla Roeber. Darla said they received the obituary, typed, from some "Pundsnes Family History." The following are some excerpts from that obituary. "Bertha Joanna Suvdy Ponsness daughter of the late Tjorbiorne and Engeberg Suvdy, was born in Lisbon, Illinois Dec. 27 1870. In early childhood she moved with her parents to Story County, Iowa where she lived until 1886 when she was married to Lars L. Ponsness. Soon after they moved to Clay County, Iowa where they resided 15 years, coming to Badger in 1901. They made their home on a farm near Badger until her husband's death in 1928. She remained on the farm until 1935 when she moved to Waterloo, Iowa. To this union eleven children were born, all living except one daughter who died in infancy."Moved to Clay County, Iowa. Moved to Badger in 1901.Moved to Waterloo, Iowa in 1935, to live with her daughter.Husband died in 1928.Gave birth to 11 children, and all but one were still living and present at the death of their mother. Nine of the children were still living with Lars and Bertha. They were: Isabel, age 22, Lewis, age 19, Jonas, age 16, Raymond, age 14, Mabel, age 12, Leonard, age 11, Myrtle, age 7, Rachel, age 4, and Alice age 1 2/12.
