    • Magnus Stanley tog på hans 17-årsdag i den amerikanska flottan. Från 1943-46 tjänstgjorde han som 1:a klass maskinist i maskinrummet på USS Winged Arrow och USS Waters och transporterade trupper till öarna i Pacific under andra världskriget. Medan han var på USS Waters deltog han i landsättningen av soldater från Higgins-båtarna på Iwo Jimas och Okinawas stränder.

    • Bio: Magnus Stanley Boe, 94, went to meet his Lord and Savior, August 27, 2020. He passed away at his former farm, east of Pierpont, with family by his side.
    • Private family funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday SEPT 11, 2020 at Skudesnes Lutheran Church and will be live-streamed on our Facebook page. All friends and family are welcome to the public burial at 3:00 P.M. in the church cemetery. Walk through visitation will be Thursday SEPT 10 5-7 P.M. at the funeral home.
    • “Stan the Man” as he was known, was born November 15, 1925 to Selma and the late Magnus Boe in Pierpont, SD. His father, Magnus passed away October 12, 1925, a month before his birth and his mother June 11, 1929 when he was just 3 years old. He was raised by his grandparents Andrew and Bertha Brekke and an aunt and uncle Olga and Edwin Stadsklev.
    • He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Pierpont. He attended Sunshine country school south of Andover and Pierpont High School.
    • On his 17th birthday, he enlisted in the US Navy. From 1943-46, he served as a 1st class machinist in the engine room on the USS Winged Arrow and USS Waters transporting troops to the islands in the Pacific Theater during WWII. While on the USS Waters he took part in the landing of soldiers from the Higgins boats onto the shores of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. Upon his discharge, he returned to the Pierpont area to begin his life’s occupation as a farmer.
    • On December 28, 1946, he married Arlene Paulson at the Skudesnes Lutheran Church in rural Pierpont, SD.
      To this union one daughter, Melinda was born. In 1961 they learned of the deaths of Jean (a cousin) and Robert Budd Anderson which left 6 children without parents. In 1962, Jeannie, Bonnie, Debbie, and Pennie were welcomed into their home. In 1963, Bob(Robert) and Terry also joined the family.
    • Stan enjoyed playing the harmonica. He played for funerals and many church and nursing home programs with Bonnie and Debbie as accompanists. Dad and Debbie recorded a CD together. Stan wrote the words to a song he titled “ Jesus Savior of the World” and Debbie composed the music for it.
    • A highlight for Stan was the honor flight trip to Washington D.C. in 2009. In 2014, he received his honorary high school diploma at the Veteran’s Day program in Langford, SD.
    • Stan was a dedicated husband, father, farmer, veteran, Sunday school teacher, sang bass in the church choir and a member of Skudesnes Lutheran Church. He enjoyed riding his horses, Pal and Charlie. Ever the farmer, he was still hauling corn in his semi at age 92. He served on various boards in the community and at the present time was serving on the board of Bethesda homes, Webster, and a member of the American legion Charles N Young Post 99 of Pierpont having served as chaplain for many years.
    • Surviving Stan is his wife Arlene; daughter Melinda Eikamp of Groton; Robert(Barbara)AndersonII of Pierpont, Terry(Sheila)Anderson of Aberdeen; Jeannie (Ken)Kirkland of Valdez, Alaska; Bonnie(Michael)Thiel of Valdez, Alaska; Debbie (Elroy)Olson of Pierpont; Pennie(Ross)McIntosh of Pierpont.     • He was preceded in death by his parents, Magnus and Selma Boe; grandparents; grandson Dustin Anderson; son-in-law Leonard Eikamp Jr; brothers-in-law Emil Ness and Harris Paulson; and special nephew Allan Ness.
