- Bio: Lyle T Whitney, 97, of Clitherall, died Thursday, October 4, 2007 at the Battle Lake-Good Samaritan Center.
Lyle Troup Whitney was born on May 29, 1910 in Rush Lake Township, rural Richville, the son ot Sherman & Emma (Rickett) Whitney. He attended Rural School District #240 in Rush Lake Township. After his schooling he worked in North Dakota in the wheat fields shocking grain.
Lyle & Ida J. Grover were married in 1937. They lived in Rochert, MN where Lyle cut & sold cord wood. They moved to the Richville area where he farmed for twelve years. Lyle & Ida divorced.
In 1956 Lyle & Virginia Meyers married. Cheryl & Lowell. Lyle worked construction building the Garrison Dam by Garrison, ND & at the Air Base by Glascow, MT. Lyle & Virginia divorced.
Lyle & Myrtle Aune were married in January of 1966. After their marriage Lyle was employed with Taconite Harbor & the family lived a short time in Kinney, then returned to Clitherall. Lyle went to work for the West Central Turkey Plant in Pelican Rapids from 1970 to 1990. Lyle enjoyed gardening, raising flowers & trapping, mainly muskrats.. Lyle & Myrtle spent many memorable evenings dancing. Lyle
& Myrtle lived in their home in Clitherall until entering
the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center in 2002.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents; 5 sisters, Leora, Violet, Elsie, Ada & Baby Mae: 2 grandchildren & 1 step-daughter, Mariene.
He is survived by his wife, Myrtle; 3 children, Kay (John) Reger of New York Mills, Cheryl (Jim) Bock of Las Vegas, NV & Lowell (Deann) Whitney of Perham; 3 step-children, Larry (Nell) Aune of Newport Richie, FL, Leslie Aune of Clitherall, Debbie (Burl Olson) Aune of Crestview, FL; 1 step son-in-law, Mike West of Clitherall, 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild,
5 step-grandchildren, 1 sister, Sylvia Malcolm of
Richville.
Funeral services were held October 8 at the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center.
Interment was held at Nidaros Lutheran Cemetery, rural Clitherall.
