- February 5, 1969 - Humboldt Republican - Funeral services for Sherman E Wickre of Livermore were held Tuesday, Feb. 4, at the Emanuel Lutheran Church at Livermore, with Pastor William Stock officiating. Interment was in the Union Cemetery at Livermore, with the Sievers Funeral Home of Humboldt in charge of arrangements.
- Mr. Wickre died Saturday afternoon. Feb, 1, at the Lutheran Hospital at Fort Dodge. He had been admitted earlier in the day. Casket bearers were Lyle Nelson, Vernon Hohenberger, Howard Barton, Jack Ferguson, Elmer Wendt, and Harry Rail.
- Be is survived by his widow, Esther; three daughters: Mrs Harold Bosworth of Algona; Mrs Keith A. Zigler of San Francisco, Calif.; and Miss Elisabeth Wickre, a student at Concordia College at St. Paul, Minn.; two sons, John of Humboldt and Paul at home; and five grandchildren. He is also survived by four brothers: Julius of Aberdeen, Wash.; Emil of St Paul, Minn.; Henry of Rolfe; and Palmer of Wessington Springs, S.D.; and two sisters, Mrs. Sheldon Sampson of Brooklyn. N.Y., and Mrs. Sam Gutormson of Huron,

- Mr. Wiekre was born Feb. 6. 1911, at Alberta, Canada, and moved as a youth to Langford, S.D. where he attended school. In 1940 he married Esther Landgren at Mason City. He later owned and operated the Livermore Feed Mill and for the past six years was employed by the Carlson Construction Company of Decorah, Ia.
- He served in World War II, was a 15-year member of the American Legion of Livermore and held various offices in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
