  Bio: Funeral services for Edgar Whalen, 92, of Stratford were held Wednesday, April 11, 1990 at the Christian Church, Stanhope. Rev. Richard Morris conducted the 1:30 pm service. Interment was held in Lawn Hill Cemetery, Stanhope. Mr. Whalen passed away Sunday, April 8 at the Stratford Care Center. Edgar Guy Whalen was born on Sunday, March 13, 1898 on a farm in Clear Lake Township, Hamilton county. He was the son of John and Alice Goodman Whalen. Edgar attended rural schools. Edgar married Iva Irene Davis on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1919 at Stanhope. The couple farmed southeast of Stanhope. In 1947 they moved to a farm three miles north of Stanhope. In 1955 the Whalens moved to Stanhope. Mrs. Whalen passed away on Monday, Jan 23, 1989. In March of 1989 Edgar moved to the Stratford Care Center. Edgar was a member of the Christian Church, Stanhope and Modern Woodmen of America. Survivors include a son, Ralph Whalen, Stanhope; daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Roberta) Tieg, Webster City; four grand children; seven great grand children and four great great grand children.
