      (published in the Press-Telegram on Nov. 13, 1981)
    • Jane says she started working at the PressTelegram "a little under 100 years ago." But we don't believe it for a minute beeause her first Job with the newspaper was in our Bellflower offiee, and the Press-Telegram didn't have a Bellflower office that many years ago. "I truly hated to leava Bellflower-because I met so many wonderful people during my years there. You know how it is, your customers become your friends, and you share one another's joys and heartaches, the good times and the bad. But when the clerical staff was eliminated there I packed up and moved to the circulation office in downtown Long Beach. I'm happy to say that in the five years I've been here I've met a whole new group of friends . . . but I still keep the old Bellflower friendships in my heart." Jane is a petite, thoroughly feminine lady who looks anything like an outdoor girl, but she is. "I'd rather go fresh water fishing than anything else I can think of, exeept maybe going to Las Vegas.
      Adams Lake In Canada is my favorite spot on earth and I spend one month there every year. I bought myself a travel traller and I look forward to packing it full and heading north come summer. When I retire that trailer's going every place I go and, when I get tired of being in one spot, I'll hook It up to my car and head out to parts unknown."
      Besides hankering for outdoor adventure, Jane is also quite interested in polltics, and is a member of the California Republican Party. "I have worked for various politicians over the years, helplng their election campaigns in any way I can. Richard Nixon invited me to his victory party when he was elected president ... but I never heard word one from Ronald Reagan or his wife. They were probably too busy selecting the new White House china pattern to entertain, I guess."
      A water skiing, bridge-playing mother of two and grandmother of six who has twice the spunk of most people half her age . . .
