- Bio: Kenneth H. Vig, 92, Peever, died Apr 18, 2011, in a care center at Wilmot.Burial will be in the Peever Cemetery with military rites by the Otto-Quande-Renville American Legion Post 50 and Fort Sisseton VFW Post 3342. Honorary pallbearers will be his friends. Active pallbearers will be Linn Vig, Joel Hortness, Harold Fryer, Marlo Anderson, Carroll "Spike" Nehls and Kent Elliott.Kenneth Harvey Vig was born May 19, 1918, in rural Claire City to Hans and Lisa (Lekness) Vig.He married Opal Saterlie Jun 26, 1941, in Veblen. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from Feb of 1942 until Oct 24, 1945. He received the Good Conduct Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal. They returned to Peever in 1945. He was the owner of Vig Lumber and Vig Gas and Oil in Peever.He was a lifetime member of the Fort Sisseton VFW Post 3342 and a member of the Peever Lutheran Church. He enjoyed his winters in Texas and Arizona and spending time with his granddaughters.He was preceded in death by his wife.Survivors include two sons, Harold (Carol) Vig of Cave Creek, AZ, and Neil (Sandy) Vig of Peever; three granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Mildred Vig of Fargo, ND.
