- Michael Allen Bannister, the son of the late Larry Lyle Bannister and the late Beverly Ann Linn Bannister Peter was born Sept. 2, 1965 in Iowa City and passed away Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at Memorial Hospital in Tallahassee, Fla. at the age of 48.
He recieved his education in Estherville. He graduated with his GED in Fort Madison.
Michael was an artist in his own soul. He has left us many memories, drawings, and stories of his life. He loved painting, drawing, crafts, traveling, meeting others, loved his family, and last but not least his boxing career. He was a kind soul. Even if he was in need, he would give what little he had to help out another in need.
Left to cherish Michael's memory are his sisters: Julie Ann Lyons (Carl) of Spirit Lake; Laura Jane Weber of Estherville; Brenda Mae Lenz (Steve Hartmann) of Schaller; niece and nephews: Jamie Lyle Bannister-Lyons (Kimberly), of Sheldon; Joshua Michael Weber (Hilary) of Boone; Jared James Weber (Ashley) of Milford; Steven Ray Mason of Sioux Falls, S.D.; Travis Jon Lenz of Eldora; Corey Lee Bosma (Hayley) of Early; Jenna Leigh Lenz (Josh) of Schaller; great nieces and nephews: Christopher, Collin, Austin, Arron, Donavon, Tristen, Joslyn, Ethan, Kylin, Victoria, Hailey, Hallie, Hayden, Adrianna, Misty, Kaitlyn, Ashton, Kamdyn and two on the way; many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is also remembered by very special friend, Mike Whittington of Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, paternal and maternal grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Michael Passed due to substantial brain damage and other severe injuries from walking in the crosswalk at an intersection on North Monroe and Callway in Tallahassee, Fla. The accident took place Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013. Staff and Professional's from Memoial Hospital did what they could do to keep him comfortable.
A private ceremony of Michael's life will take place at the East Side Memorial Cemetery. He will be buried with his mother.
