- Funeral Services For Nels Hovick Were Held Monday
- Funeral services for the late Nels T. Hovick were held at the Madison Lutheran church Monday afternoon, Rev. Joseph Tetlie officiating. Brief memorial services were held at the home preceding the rites at the church.
- Pallbearers were: a son of the deceased, Rudolph Hovick; his brothers, Andrew, Tom and Charles Hovick; his son-in-law, Clarence Bergo; and a friend, Henry Roise. Interment services were held at the Madison Lutheran cemetery.
- Nels T. Hovick was born at Stavanger, Norway, on April 6, 1868 of parents, Andreas and Ingen* Hovick, being at the time of his death 74 years, 5 months and three days old. He came to this country in 1888 and settled on a farm at Rembrandt, Iowa. In company with his mother and her family he moved to Madison in 1903 and lived here until 1910 when he moved to Clarkfield.
- In 1926 he moved his family back to Madison where he resided until his death on Wednesday, September 9.
- In 1903 he was united in marriage to Miss Susan H. Worra of Madison, and to this union were born eight children, seven of whom survive. The eldest died at the age of eight years.
- He is survived by his wife, Susan Hovick, his children, Emelia (Mrs. Henry Christensen) of Mahoment, Ill., Noah of Russell, Minn., Esther (Mrs. C. G. Bergo) of Northfield, Minn., Hiram of the Army Air Corps at St. Petersburg, Fla., Ingvald of Seattle, Wash., Ingrid of Washington, D. C., and Rudolph of the Army Air Corps at Miami Beach, Fla.; three brothers and three sisters, Mrs. Hilda Urdahl of Sioux Rapids, Ia., Charles T. Hovick of Northfield, Minn., and Andrew, Tom, Esther and Ida Hovick of Madison, Minn., and seven grandchildren. Two sons Ingvald and Noah were unable to attend the rites.
- Besides the children, the following relatives from a distance were present: Miss Hillyda Worra of San Francisco, Calif., Miss Esther Worra of Clarion, Iowa, Mrs. Hilda Urdahl of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, Charles Hovick of Northfield, Minn., Mrs. Noah Hovick of Russell, Minn., Mrs. Marvin Nelson and children of Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. Lucille Scates and son of St. Paul, Minn., and Clarence Bergo of Northfield.
