Baker, who passed away Saturday morning, Nov.22, at St. Joseph's hospital in Sioux City. Rev. D. B. Arnold officiated at the morning service. Vocal selections by Stan Rihanek and Frank Nelson were accompanied by Mrs. Kerwin Kent organist.Pallbearers were Walt Whaley, Dale Benter, Orville Pearson, Harry Cooney, Elwin Darnell, and leslie Barker. Burial was in the Rosehill Cemetery, Pender. Mconnaha and Kempf were in charge of arrangements.Roy Carroll Baker was born on a farm near Pender on Aug.5, 1905. He was married to Lucille Phillips on December19, 1927.Roy was a prominent member of the Pender and Walthill communities. He served as county committeeman of the ASCS for 13 years a position from which he retired in September of this year. Roy was known by his friends as a good sportsmanHe is survived by his wife Lucille, and one son Carroll and daughter- in-law Ruth; three grandsons Ken, Denny and Ronnie; his Mother, Mrs. Albert Baker; brother George E. Baker all of Pender; and a sister Mrs. Clarence Ollson of Norfolk . He was preceded in death by his father Albert Baker.
