- Bio: Dr. Dan Taylor, age 88, of Madison, died on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at the Madison Regional Health System. Funeral service will be 1:30 PM on Tuesday, June 27th at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Constanze Hagmaier officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 PM on Monday at Weiland Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 7 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery with military honors provided by the Madison VFW & Madison American Legion. Danforth Dale Taylor was born August 7, 1928 in Canova, SD to Ned & Judy (Breen) Taylor. He graduated from Howard High School in 1946. Dan joined the US Army and served in Korea from 1946-48. He received an honorable discharge and moved to Brookings to attend SDSU from 1948-50. In 1950, he went to Kansas State University where he graduated in 1955 with a Science Degree and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. On January 28, 1950 he married LaVonne Arne in Pipestone, MN. They moved to Kansas to continue his education. He received a job working as a large animal vet for the federal government Dept. of Agriculture. In 1992, he retired after 40 years. Dan is survived by his wife of 67 years LaVonne of Madison; four daughters, GayLynn (Jon) Mann of Bethesda, MD, Karen (Mike) Williams, Cindy (Marcus) Heppler & Jane (Dave) Blanchette all of Madison, SD; seven grandchildren, Sara (Mike) Skok, Nathan Mann, Nicole (Neil) Saval, Jacob (Nicole) Williams, Ashley Williams, Eric (Sierra) Heppler & Jenny Heppler; six great-grandchildren, McKenna, Brynlee & Evan Williams, Liam Skok, Charlie and Lucy Saval; one sister, Ardis McNames & several special nieces& nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bill Taylor and his son, Bill Taylor.
