- Bio: David K. Syre of Clarks Summit died Tuesday evening at the VNA Hospice Unit at Community Medical Center. Born in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Ingolf and Anna Martha Johnson Syre, he served in the Army. He was of the Protestant faith. Before retirement, he worked for the New York City Council of Carpenters as a carpet installer. Surviving are two sons, David Jr. and Gregg, both of New Jersey; a daughter, Julie O'Connell, New Jersey; two brothers, Gilbert W., Nyack, NY; and Ronald, Oregon; two sisters, Janice Tveter, Hawley; and Gloria Nilsen, Nevada; three grandchildren, Emily, Abigael, and Jack O'Connell; and his companion, Bronis Mashin, Clarks Summit. The funeral service will be Friday at noon in the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, to be officiated by the Rev. Judy Wanck, pastor of the Clarks Summit United Methodist Church. Interment will be in New York.
