- Bio: Earl Norman Swanson, age 80 of Deer Creek, passed away on Friday, July 7th at the St. Cloud Hospital. Earl was born to his parents Nels & Olena (Julsen) Swanson on Sept. 8, 1925 on the family farm near Newman Grove, NE. He farmed in Illinois, Newman Grove and moved to his farm near Deer Creek in 1955 until retiring in 1986. Earl was united in marriage to Margaret Lucille Sjurson on April 14, 1947 at the Shell Creek Lutheran Church in Newman Grove. When Earl moved to this area he was known for raising Farmers Hybrid Hogs. He was also very active in his community. He was a member of the Deer Creek Rod & Gun Club, Community Action Council, member of the Board of Midland Coop & a school board member of Dist. 94 Compton Township. Earl also enjoyed playing cards, telling stories and jokes, hunting and fishing, spending time with his grandchildren and his children. Earl was preceded in death by his wife Margaret in 1999; his parents; brothers Melvin, Audren & Raymond; sisters Edith Patzel & Iola Warneke.
