- Bio: Donald R. Swanson, 93, of Lincoln, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at the Journey House. He was born on January 31, 1922, in Table Rock, Nebraska, the son of Harold and Abbie (Biggs) Swanson. Donald graduated from Odell High School in 1939 and from the Chillicothe Business College, Chillicothe, Missouri, in 1941. He served with the US Army from 1942 to 1946 and from September, 1950, to May, 1952.In August, 1949, he was united in marriage with Mary Lee Johnson. They made their home in Lincoln, Nebraska, where they celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary just prior to her death on October 19, 1990.He had a 41-year career with the Lincoln Telephone & Telegraph Company. He retired in 1987 as secretary-treasurer.Don will be deeply missed and remembered for his lightning quick wit and love of laughter, his compassionate generosity, and his devotion to family and friends. He is survived by: nephew and nieces, Herbert (Warunee) Swanson, Marilyn (John) Olson, Carolyn (Michael) Borkowski, and Sandra (Stan Schilz); five great grand nephews and nieces, a great great grand nephew and niece; cousins; and his Swanson Kids.His parents, his wife, Mary Lee, and his older brother, Roland H.
