  • Noteringar
    • Bio: Donald G. Steuck, age 79 of Fox Lake, died on Monday, December 13, 2010 at his home from a heart attack while snowblowing his driveway.
    • Donnie was born on April 25, 1931 in Primghar, Iowa; the firstborn son of the late August and Viola (nee Zumm) Steuck. He moved as a toddler with his parents to the Andover township area in South Dakota where they farmed near the city of Pierpont. On August 3, 1958 he married Janis C. Nygaard at Skudeness Lutheran Church. He continued to farm with his parents until relocating his family to the Beaver Dam/Fox Lake area in mid-1959, when he became a fulltime employee at the Pillsbury/Green Giant Canning Company. He retired in January 1992 after a 35-year career serving as a maintenance mechanic at the Fox Lake and Beaver Dam plants. In his retirement, he then became the caretaker at the Fox Lake Riverside Memorial Park, serving from 1993 until 2007. He was also a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Fox Lake.
    • Donnie and his wife enjoyed traveling the countryside in their retirement via car, bus, train and cruise ship vacations. For seventeen years, they spent the long winter months at their winter home in Harlingen, Texas. You could also find him dancing a fast polka while attending various local dances, playing euchre and "500" at local card socials, and ice fishing and snowmobiling out on Fox Lake with his family. He cherished the time spent creating homemade gifts for his two beloved granddaughters.
    • Those who knew Donnie well, always enjoyed his quick wit, smile and how he always found time for a good laugh and/or a practical joke or two. He passed away with a twinkle in his eye.
    • Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Janis (Nygaard) Steuck of Fox Lake; one son Terry of Juneau; one daughter Elaine (Delbert) Desjarlais of Columbus; two granddaughters, Stacy (Josh) Weisensel of Montello and Tiffany Desjarlais of Columbus; two sisters, Betty (Ron) Myren of Waunakee and Shirley (Jerry) Keller of De Smet, SD; two sister-in-laws, Judy (Ronald) McGarvie of Lake Preston, SD and Sheryl (Ben) Elfrink of Pepin, WI; and one brother-in-law, David Nygaard of Brookings, SD. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many great friends.
    • He was preceded in death by his parents.
    • A Funeral Service for Donald Steuck will be held at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Fox Lake with Rev. David Nottling officiating.
