  Bio: There is no stone for JimJames Clarion Stearns the son of George H. and Ruth (Christiansen) Stearns was born January 12, 1947 in Estherville, Iowa and passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at his home in Estherville at the age of 64.Jim received his education in Estherville schools.For many years Jim functioned in the capacity of sacristan for St. Patrick's Parish, helping prepare the church for Mass on weekdays, weekends and for funerals and other special church celebrations. He was a man of faith who was deeply committed to the work of St. Patrick's parish and was always willing to lend a hand with various parish projects. He was a positive man with a generous spirit who was friendly and greeted everyone he met openly and honestly. Jim was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, an organization dedicated to the principles of charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism. Until the end of his life he enjoyed practicing Spanish and spent many hours with his friends at Don Jose Restaurant.Jim is survived by his family and by many friends at St. Patrick's Parish, the Estherville community and the staff at Don Jose Restaurant.He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Joseph and Pat Thurston, his special friend. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Estherville. He died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, at his home in Estherville.
