- Bio: Evelyn Smith Badenhop of Mapleton, Iowa, married Urban Badenhop on DEC. 23, 1944, at St. John Lutheran Church in Charter Oak, Iowa.Evelyn "Evie" Badenhop, age 74, of Ida Grove, died Monday, November 18. 1996, At her home In Ida Grove. Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ida Grove with Reverends John Schauer and Andrew Currao officiating. Burial will be In the Mt. Hope Cemetery. Mapleton, Iowa. Visitation will be after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Christensen-Clha Funeral Home in Ida Grove.Mrs. Badenhop was born July 3, 1922 In Seward, Nebraska, the daughter of Howard and Elfreda (Scheer) Smith. She graduated from Mapleton High School in 1940 and attended Wayne State Teachers College. She married Urban H. Badenhop December 23, 1944 at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Charter Oak. Iowa. She taught elementary school In Iowa, Colorado, and Ohio. She lived in Colorado prior to WWII moving to Ohio after the war. and back to Iowa in 1955.She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was active in Ladies' Aid, a member of the Cancer Support Group, and a number of different bridge clubs, all in Ida Grove. She enjoyed being a homemaker, mother. grandmother and seamstress.Survivors Include her husband. Urban; a daughtor and her husband, Barb and John Corr of Ida Grove; four grandchildren; Aaron, Alex, Adam Corr, and Andrew Corr and special frfend, Stephanie Iversen; a sister and her husband, Dorothy and Reverend Richmond Hutchins of OVid, New York and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded In death by her parents.
