- Bio: Julie Ann Hastings died on September 8, 2016 surrounded by her family and loving caregivers. She was born to Simon J. and Henrietta (Olson) Simonson on November 26, 1921 in Newman Grove, Nebraska. She graduated from Brookings High School, attended Iowa State University and received an Associate degree from South Dakota State University. She married William C. Hastings on December 29, 1946 and they enjoyed over 63 years of marriage.
- Julie was a loving, devoted and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. All who knew her will remember her smile and sweet disposition, her wit and her reliability.
- Julie was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she was a Deacon, Sunday School teacher and a member of Presbyterian Women. She was also active in PEO Chapter BY, Boy and Girl Scouting, PTA, Junior Women's Club, Legislative Wives, Law Wives Bridge and Book Clubs and numerous Bible study groups throughout her life.
- She is survived by her daughter Pamela Carrier, sons Charles Hastings (Jeanne) and Steven, granddaughters Diane Hastings Lewis (Dustin) and Beth Hastings Tourek (Kris) and grandson Daniel Carrier. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, friends and loving caregivers from HomeInstead, Tabitha Hospice and The Grand Lodge at the Preserve. She was predeceased by her husband, son-in-law (Jim Carrier), parents, three brothers and a sister.
- Services are pending at First Presbyterian Church, 17th and F Streets, Lincoln with private interment services at Hope Cemetery, Newman Grove, Nebraska. No visitation.
