- Bio: Shane Richard Shipman, 37, Granville, ND, died Monday, February 13, 2006, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Norwich.
- He was born on October 27, 1968, in Springfield, IL, the son of Charles and Cora Mae (Bergstad) Shipman. The family lived in Oregon State and Velva, ND, for a short time before moving to Granville, ND in the early 70's. Shane was reared and attended Granville High School and graduated in 1987. As a young boy, Shane loved to work with his grandfather, Raymond on his road grader.
- Shane worked with his father at a very young age in the construction business. In 1989, Shane went to work for ASRC Energy Services in Alaska, where he was employed at the time of his death.
- In his spare time, he loved to camp, fish, and snowmobile with his family and friends. He was also an avid NASCAR fan.
- He was a member of First Lutheran Church, Granville.
- Survivors: mother, Cora Mae Shipman, Granville; father, Charles W. Shipman, Leavenworth, KS; brothers, Wayne L. (Denise) Shipman and their children, Danielle, Jayden, Grady, all of Carrington, ND, Shawn Shipman and his fiancée, Natasha, and their children, Carson Shipman, and Kira and Kylie Clott, Surrey, ND, Daniel Shipman, Hutchinson, KS; sister, Shannon (Bernard) Skalicky, and their children, Taylor , Mikaela, and Aerika; several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death his maternal grandparents, Raymond and Mildred Bergstad and paternal grandparents, Willard and Dorothy Shipman.
