- Bio:
William Marshall Shelton, Jr. (also known affectionately as Bill, Billy Jr., Daddio and Papa) passed away peacefully at his Pasadena home on November 29 surrounded by his family. Not surprising, because he was all about his family. Bill was born in 1926 in Seattle to William and Petra Shelton. The Shelton's moved to Beverly Hills in 1939, and Bill graduated from Beverly Hills High School, where he captained CIF golf championship teams. From there it was on to UCLA, but during the tail end of World War II, he joined the US Army and was stationed in China as a cryptologist. After the war, he returned to UCLA where he lettered on the Bruins' Golf team, and played an active role in the Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity.
- Upon graduating, he began selling insurance with the New England Mutual Life Insurance Company. Bill went on to become the General Agent of the Los Angeles office and President of the Million Dollar Roundtable Foundation. In 1951, he married Nancy Brewster Smith. Bill and Nancy moved to San Marino in 1958 to give all six Shelton kids the opportunity for a great education and to make life-long friends along the way. For years, Bill was active on the board of Young Life and a member of San Marino Community Church.
- Bill's wife Nancy passed away in 2005, but it continued to be all about family. There were frequent "Dad's Dinners" where any and all siblings, spouses, grand kids and friends met to share life's adventures and lessons. Bill was a man who never stopped telling his family how much he loved them and how lucky and blessed he was. We will miss you William Marshall Shelton Jr, but we are the lucky ones - Becky & Richard, Peter & Terry, Michael, Molly, Jack, Wendy & Kai, Katelyn, Kerry, Carrie & Brent, Blake, Lauren and Ryan, Devon & John and Kim. And... Romeo, Kathy, Cindy & Sherryl.
