  Bio: Donald Schumacher, 76, of Genoa, Nebraska, died Thursday, May 14, 2015, at the Genoa Community Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, May, 19, 10:30 A.M. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Father Bill L’Heureux celebrating the Mass. Interment will be in the Valley View Cemetery with military honors by the Genoa American Legion, Edward H. Larson, Post #144 Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Monday from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the church with a vigil service at 7:00 P.M. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 9:30 – 10:30 A.M. at the church. Donald was born January 8, 1939, in Elgin, Nebraska to Jerome and Blanche (McIntosh) Schumacher. He attended school in Petersburg and Genoa, graduating from Genoa High School in 1957. Donald entered the U.S. Army on August 29, 1962, and was honorably discharged on August 28, 1964. After returning from the military, he moved to Genoa where he owned and operated Schumacher Grainer Mixer. On November 4, 1967, Donald was united in marriage to Karen Week in St. Edward. Donald also worked for Werner Construction and Supersweet Elevator before they moved to Cedar Rapids, Nebraska in 1989. While in Cedar Rapids, he worked for the Cedar Valley Co-op for 18 years. After retiring, they moved back to Genoa in 2006. Donald was a member of the American Legion and was also a member of the Genoa Fire Department. He enjoyed going camping, old tractors, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
