- Bio: David M. Sands passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on September 26th, 2005, after a brave, long battle with cancer. He was born on February 8th, 1944, in Jackson, Minnesota and spent his formative years in Palmer, Alaska. He moved to Duluth, Minnesota in 1952, and graduated from Duluth Central High School. He attended the University of Minnesota and Brown Institute of Broadcasting in Minneapolis. Dave met his wife of 43 years, Sheri, in Brainerd, Minnesota. The family moved to Ephrata, Washington in 1969, where Dave and his father-in-law owned and operated KULE radio station. The Sands family moved to Wenatchee in 1973. Dave enjoyed a career in broadcasting and advertising for over 25 years, and was instrumental in the creation of historical regional publications including "The Night the Mountain Fell", "Valley of the Strong" and "The Rainbow Seekers". He anchored the North Central Washington CNN Headline News in the mid to late 1980's. In 1990, Dave entered his career in real estate as an agent and broker, a vocation that he found fulfilling both personally and professionally.Dave was an amazingly loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, son and friend to many people. He touched people's lives with his endlessly positive disposition and outlook on life. Some of his most endearing qualities were his genuine caring and concern for other people, patience, tolerance and sense of humor.Dave is survived by his wife, Sheri; son and family, Jeff, Barb, Shadrey and Tanner Sands, Colorado; daughter, Shelly Sands, Olympia; daughter and family, JoAnn, Jeff, Jordan, Madison and Cassidy Cunningham, East Wenatchee; daughter, Jennifer Sands and husband Tracy Gelb, California; son, and family David, Kristin, Garret and Ethan Sands, Moses Lake. He is also survived by his mother, Dorothy Kiesow; sisters, Sherri Sands and Karen (Curtis) Blakeman, Woodland, CA; nephew, Shawn Herold and niece Lori Imgrund. He was preceded in death by his nephew, Chip Blakeman.The Family would like to thank Dr. David Notter, the Oncology and Chemo Departments at the Wenatchee Valley Clinic and the Home Health and Hospice at Central Washington Hospital.A Private Family Graveside Service was held on September 28, 2005.We miss you here and now, but you will forever be an inspiration to us for strength, resolve, patience, faith and integrity.Thank you – we love you.
