- Palmer was the 3rd of 6 sons born to NOrwegian immigrant, Rev. Thomas Gunderson Sandeno, and his wife Bertina (Aarsvold).
- He was raised in Dodge County, MN where his father pastored South Zumbro Lutheran Church (on the county line of Dodge and Olmsted Counties). He was baptized and confirmed there. Palmer's father performed the wedding ceremony for my grandparents, and baptized my mother and her sister. Palmer's oldest brother married my grandfather, Olai Fjerstad's cousin. Their grandparents were on the same ship from Norway to America with their families, in 1851 and settled neighboring farms at Canisteo, Dodge Cty, MN.
- When Palmer was 14 his mother died of TB; and his twin brothers shortly thereafter.
- Palmer's father remarried in 1934 and the family moved to Iowa.
- Palmer married Blanche Stolee and they lived in Anaheim where he was a contractor. They had two children, Dr. Bryan Sandeno, and Ann (Mark) Simmons.
