- Bio: Myrtle Whitney, 95, of Clitherall, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center.
- Myrtle Bernese Whitney was born on Jan. 15, 1915, in rural Clitherall, the daughter of Carl and Christine (Olson) Sandahl. She was baptized and confirmed at Nidaros Lutheran Church and attended Country School District 155 in Nidaros Township.
- Myrtle and Lawrence Aune were married in 1937 in Peoria, Ill. After their marriage they lived in Peoria, Charles City, Iowa, Clitherall, then moved to Georgia for a short time and in 1963, returned to Clitherall.
- Lawrence died on July 18, 1965.
- In January of 1966, Myrtle married Lyle Whitney. They lived one year in Kinney, before moving to Clitherall, where they resided until entering the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center on Dec. 1, 2001.
- A big part of Myrtle's life was visiting with family and friends. Myrtle was a homemaker who enjoyed her family. She was close to her children and her grandkids, they all meant a lot to her.
- Myrtle is survived by her daughters, Debbie (Burl Olson) Aune of Crestview, Fla.; sons, Larry (Nell) Aune of Fort Richey, Fla., and Leslie Aune of Clitherall; son-in-law, Mike West of Clitherall; a step daughter, Cheryl (Jim) Bauck of Las Vegas, Nev.; a step-son, Lowell (Deanna) Whitney of Perham; five grandchildren, Natalie, Eric, Heath, Aaron and Travis; and nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
- She was preceded in death her husbands, Lawrence and Lyle; two daughters, infant Debra Ellen in 1952, and Marlene West in 1996; her parents; and numerous brothers and sisters.
- Visitation: Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home
- Service: 2 p.m. Thursday, at Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center
