- Bio: Delores Jean Sampson, the daughter of Lloyd and Sylvia (Halverson) Sampson, was born October 1, 1932, near Armstrong, Iowa. She was the second born of three children. She passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2006, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, at the age of 74 years. She received her education in the Estherville schools and graduated from Estherville High School. Delores also attended and graduated from Estherville Junior College. While she was attending school she was employed at Emmet County State Bank in Estherville. On September 4, 1955, Delores was united in marriage to Melvin Loewenberg at First Presbyterian Church in Estherville. They made their home in Estherville and began raising their family. Within a few short years the couple had four children in diapers! Delores life was her family. She poured every waking moment and a lot of sleeping moments also into her children and husband. She could always be counted on to have a notebook, pencil and paper to jot down the latest piece of information that someone might need. She even had family and friends taking notes and was organizing right up to her very last moment. Delores is survived by her loving family; her husband of 51 years, Melvin of Spirit Lake, Iowa; her children, Mike Loewenberg and his wife, Terri of Springfield, Missouri; Mark Loewenberg and his wife, Chris of Terre Haute, Indiana; Bruce Loewenberg and Lisa of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her mother, Sylvia Sampson of Estherville; brother, Maynard Sampson of Pea Ridge, Arkansas; and sister, Kay Hill of Estherville. Preceding Delores in death were her son, Brian who died February 22, 1969; and her father, Lloyd.
